Do you have preschoolers or toddlers at home who you are trying to lead in the ways of the Lord? Do you sometimes find it difficult to pray with them? This new book by Roma Downey, who you may remember from the Touched by an Angel television series, and published by Ideals Publications is a cute solution and a great tool and resource for teaching young children to pray in every situation. Prayers for Every Day is geared towards the toddlers and preschoolers age group, the illustrations are adorable, and the prayers are at just the right level.
The book features twins Zoe and Alex, and that was a hit with my twins right away! They quickly decided that the book was about them, which made them excited to read it and they are still doing so even now. The only trouble is they sometimes are fighting over it, but they are twins so sharing is usually pretty easy. That just shows how much they love this book!
Included are over 50 simple prayers of 4 lines each, where pretty much every other line rhymes. They are separated into categories such as prayers for thanks, prayers for help, prayers for worship, and things of that nature. Every two or three pages, there is a highlighted quote from scripture as well. The artwork includes angels that look like children. I’m not a huge fan of this theologically, but my twins loved it and don’t seem to register anything about them being angels really. It might be an issue at an older age, but for where we are right now it’s been perfectly fine.
